It’s always fun to get to explore new places like the Tank Hollow Trail + Vista with new couples and old. This time, we took anniversary photos for Chelsea + Matt, who we photographed engagement photos and their wedding at Whitewoods in 2019.
We actually started out at Hickory Run State Park (a place we continue to love even after hosting a ton of sessions and elopements there this year). While the crowds were a little crazy, we made do and these two totally rocked it (her burgundy dress is so stunning with this backdrop!).
The real star of the show (you know – outside of these two 🙂 ) was finding and exploring a new location hidden away in Northeast PA – Tank Hollow. Chelsea had found some pictures of the overlook there online, and asked if it would be a place that we could make some pictures work at. Of course we said “yes!!”. It’s so fun to get to explore a new place.
As we learned, Tank Hollow is a bit of a challenge to find (even with directions). It’s located in PA state game lands, GPS coordinates will not take you to the right place, and the actually space is a little unsettling with how quiet it was. Plus, in hunting season it’s important to take some precautions and since our run in with bears during a recent elopement (read more about that here), we’ve learned to have bear spray on hand anytime we go into the woods.
But – it wouldn’t be a true adventure session without these things! PA is a wild state if you know where to look, and finding true gems like this is really amazing. It made for some beautiful photos at both in the woods and at the overlook itself.
