Victoria & Erik had one heck of a multi-day wedding at Camp Laurelwood in Madison, Connecticut.
With a huge amount of planning (seriously – you should have seen the spreadsheets we got to check out!), everything came together without a hitch!
We want to share with you the incredible inquiry Victoria sent us way back in April 2018 that got things started…
“We want things to be authentic, but we want to be sure we look good and that we get a photo with our grandmas. We are getting married on June 8th, 2019 at Camp Laurelwood in Madison, CT. We are excited to be bringing together our extended families and friends from across the US for a weekend of fun with good food and alcohol that we happened to get married at. Erik isn’t a huge fan of forced photography, so we want a team we feel comfortable with and will catch us at our best. We love photos that look authentically fun, with lots of natural light, and beautiful without being overly edited. We both grew up in CT, met at UConn, and moved out to Pittsburgh in 2015. We love roller coasters, Marvel movies, and our two cats.”
From this very first message, so much just clicked with us. We shared so many passions (our two cats Sheldon & PK being our personal fur babies), and really loved the role they wanted photography to play in their wedding day. Weddings are a celebration, a party, and a time for people you love to get together that don’t often have the chance to on this level.
Our journey with V&E has been extensive and our love for travel came to the forefront as we made it our goal to capture them in ways (and at places) that had meaning for them. Their engagement photos at Cedar Point (yes – the amusement park!) in Sandusky, Ohio was one such example – where they got engaged and love to visit together. We drove 8 hours one way for this one!
Their wedding at Camp Laurelwood had us spending 2 nights, 3 days in the rustic cabins on the grounds – definitely giving some immediate Wet Hot American Summer vibes. Part of us felt like campers on a trip, and the other part felt like photographers with a mission. 🙂
We were actively involved in helping this wedding go on without a hitch – from making sure the timeline was in order to get great pictures, exploring the campgrounds to find great spots for photos, and more. It’s incredible how so many personal elements came together to create an all around good time for everyone. From niche board game ring cases to bride & groom canoeing on the lake pictures to great food from the food truck vendors – whew!
This was a roller coaster ride of a wedding, and a super fun one at that!
As we packed up and said our “goodbye’s”, we also made our way over to Rhode Island for another sweet engagement shoot before returning back home to PA. Nothing like exploring the beautiful New England states like this!
