We had a lot of fun capturing Deb and Stephen’s Wissahickon Park engagement photos in Philadelphia. They had been hunting around for a great engagement session location close to where they live, checking out a variety of different entrance points since the park is so large, and eventually found this quieter spot that they really loved. It was our first time at this particular area of the Wissahickon, and for couples looking for engagement photos with a natural backdrop around Philadelphia, but without feeling like they are in the middle of a crowded city park, it was pretty perfect.
Their session had a really relaxed and personal feel to it. Deb and Stephen wanted to include a few special things throughout the evening, starting with some photos with one of their dogs. They also brought along a blanket for a small picnic setup, and by the end of the night, they popped champagne, which made for a fun little ending to the session. Nothing felt overly staged. We gave guidance where needed, helped set up moments when it made sense, and otherwise let them live in it a little bit.
That is usually where our favorite photos come from anyway – the casual, candid pieces of a session that feel more like a couple actually spending time together than “posing for photos.” We’re already looking forward to photographing Deb and Stephen again later this year, when we’ll be back in Wissahickon Park in a different area for their wedding at Valley Green Inn.
If you’re planning Wissahickon Park engagement photos or looking for a natural engagement session location around Philadelphia, we’d love to hear from you.
