We had the fortune of getting to document the first wedding at The Separatist Project Blendery at the Simon Silk Mill in Easton, PA – a gorgeous newly opened event space just down the road from where we live.
We have been consistently blown away by the little shops and restaurants at the Silk Mill (shout outs to Tuckers Café where we regularly eat a good Aussie breakfast, and Brick & Mortar Art Gallery that held the wedding ceremony for this couple) and we’re happy to say that The Separatist has created a space that blends (pun intended) a love for good beer with modern wedding reception halls.
Why It’s So Great for Weddings!
We got to visit the space with our couple before their actual wedding day, and were really impressed with the look-and-feel. We already had an expectation of exposed brick (check), modern and cozy vibes (check), and beer blending barrels (check) – but seeing it all come together on the actual wedding day was just great.
As wedding photographers, we often get to see venues in a different way than a paying client, but we’ve also been actively involved in the wedding planning process with our couples and get to hear their feedback (and that of their family & friends on the day) as things unfold. The overwhelmingly positive response to the place is hard to ignore for us.
Of course, the space was further complimented by great staff, an awesome selection of beers (we had to try them out 😊), and uplighting provided by the DJ for the night. Some of our favorite bride & groom dancing photos from our 2019 wedding season were a result of this great mix of space, lighting, and (of course) the amazing bride & groom who hosted their wedding reception there.
