It is crazy how the time leading up to our wedding felt like it took forever – a long engagement, hectic work schedules, and finding time to plan our wedding took a toll, but once it all came together on our big day – it seemed to fly by in an instant (but was a great time, we wouldn’t change anything for the world!). By the time our wedding day came, we were beginning to get more and more excited to go to Mexico – the first time for both of us.
We spent 5 days on our honeymoon mixing relaxation with some adventure. We flew into Cancun, then found ourselves heading about an hour south to a smaller, but fun, destination: Playa Del Carmen. We got to soak in the warm sun while lying on the beach at our quiet little bungalow by the Caribbean. We met some interesting and entertaining people that shared a similar enthusiasm for travel. And got to explore some interesting cultural and historic sites in Mexico including the city ruins of Chichen Itza, Coba, and Tulum. We ate an authentic Mexican lunch in the old colonial town of Valladolid. And we would agree…our best experience was snorkeling in a cenote just because it felt like we were transported to another world.
Looking back at these photos (yes, even the ones taken on our iPhones), we can really see the power photography has in our lives. Every time we look at them, we can’t help but smile and feel transported back to a nice white sand beach in Mexico!
Our next big journey will be to Iceland in early September 2017 where we will spend about 10 days exploring the “Land of Fire and Ice” by camper van. We can’t wait!
