Sometimes reading through blog posts from wedding photographers can feel a bit like we exaggerate the beauty of our shoots, and hype up our couples to crazy levels. Our experience as photographers has really brought us close to so many people we’ve had the opportunity to capture in a few of life’s biggest moments, and this is why we feel so connected to people like Nicole & Andrew. And it’s why we can rant & rave about wedding and engagement shoots like theirs!
These two wanted a Philadelphia engagement session. Pure & simple.
We worked together to put a great list of locations and a timeline that would allow us to hit all of these awesome spots in different parts of the city. Since this e-sesh, we’ve named this the “Philly engagement shoot circuit” – taking us from the area around the Philadelphia Museum of Art to Race Street Pier.
These Philadelphia engagement session locations have been hand selected by us to give a really great mix of photos. Some of the urban vibes that comes with the Old City streets, pretty “standard” Art Museum shots, little parks, and a view of the Ben Franklin bridge from the waterfront. This is a perfect mix of locations!
But, of course, not the only great ones in the city if you are considering your own engagement photos!
What has made this one of our favorite engagement sessions to date was easily the sweet personalities of these two.
Their passion for one another was so infectious – and we couldn’t help but push ourselves to get a ton of great photos for them to remember their time living in Philly.
Adding to the mix – we’ve always found that it’s the unexpected things that always lead to standout photos for us. Sure – we have a pretty dialed in approach to posing and helping our couple’s elicit a really natural response with each other that translates into amazing photos, but sometimes nature has something to add itself.
As we drove from the Art Museum to the area around Race Street Pier (and took an extra couple of minutes to find parking…thanks Philly!), we took notice of a really unique spot loaded with cherry blossom trees in full bloom. We just had to stop over there – and we did!
We just loved this shoot so much, and are so happy to be able to share some photos from our time together. We’ll be seeing these two again closer to home for their wedding at Riverview Country Club (literally 5 minutes away from us!).
