Poconos Self-Uniting Elopement | Salena + Stephen

Like many couples currently, Salena & Stephen were planning for a large wedding filled with family & friends over the early summer months, but the world has changed in challenging and trying ways that have gotten in the way of so many big wedding celebrations being planned this year.

As beautiful as big weddings are (and don’t get us wrong – we love them, and miss them!), Pennsylvania is a unique state that allows for self-uniting ceremonies. Put simply, you are essentially permitted to marry yourself, anywhere, with just 2 witnesses to watch and sign the marriage certificate.

So that’s just what these two decided to do, and came to us not only to capture this beautiful moment, but also be their witnesses. Capturing Salena and Stephen’s elopement has stood out to us as an incredibly memorable moment for us as photographers. We don’t take our job lightly, and while we know we’re not essential and on the front lines like the nurses and doctors around us, we face many challenges in todays climate but are very moved to be able to be apart of our couples big days in a significant way like this.

Our approach to elopements involves offering support to find beautiful locations (such as this one in the Poconos!), being a witness if it’s needed, and of course documenting every moment unfold so it can live on as a tangible memory for years to come.
