One of the underrated gems of Southern Iceland is Kvernufoss Waterfall – a great location for an Iceland elopement wedding and subsequent portraits. The way to Kvernufoss is a short hike in Skogar, close to the really popular Skogafoss (probably the #1 waterfall you think of when thinking about Iceland).

While these two opted to say their vows in a ceremony on the black sand beach (and you can see that in their full Iceland adventure elopement blog post), we ended our time together at this gorgeous location.

As photographers, there are so many incredible views and portrait locations here. From wide shots showing the scale of the falls, to close shots sharing the intimacy of the couple, and even photos behind the waterfall – it’s incredible. This fall is much like Seljalandsfoss, but without the crowds.

This is surely a must visit spot for your elopement in Iceland!
