These two chose to have an Iceland adventure elopement for their special way of getting married. 

While Beth & Marshall are from the United States, they wanted to have a particularly different and intimate wedding day, filled with meaning to them. As lovers of nature, hiking, and travel – choosing to elope in Iceland was easy. As their plans took shape, they decided to invite their parents and made it into a unique road trip. For the first few days of their time in Iceland, they traveled around and saw the sights – making fun memories together as a family. 

On their 2nd to last day in the country, they got married. To kick the day off, thanks to the midnight summer sun, we began with them at a unique B&B nestled along the Golden Circle (near Thingvellir National Park). It was an early start at 3AM, but the energy was already alive as these two began to get ready. They shared gifts together, then had a first look right outside – before finally getting everything loaded into their cars to head over to their ceremony location. 

For the rest of their day, they left the key planning up to us. Given our experience in Iceland already, we suggested they have their wedding ceremony on the black sand beach of Reynisfjara. While this is an incredibly popular location, our early arrival left us as the only ones there. We ultimately chose this spot as it is authentically Iceland, and it offers beautiful and picturesque 360 degree views of all the coastline features. 

Their elopement ceremony was incredibly memorable for many reasons. They put it together themselves, incorporating vow readings and sharing of letters with their parents. Afterwards, they shared dances with their parents on the beach. All of this while surrounded by the scenic Icelandic nature, and gorgeous morning light. At moments, the clouds would open up and shine on their ceremony, a mesmerizing experience. 

The stark contrast of the black sand and ocean waves with Beth’s wedding dress, and Marshall’s suit from Donegal, Ireland also lent to exceptionally powerful visuals that translated beautifully to photos.

After their service, we went on a little tour of Iceland’s South coast – taking portraits and taking in the sights at some popular landmarks (as well as a few hidden gems many tourists miss out on). 

This set of Iceland adventure elopement photos are some of our favorites to date. The location is gorgeous at any time, but pairing it with a great couple like these two – and you can’t get much better.

This manner of getting married is so meaningful, intimate, emotional and authentic – and set these two up for a beautiful married journey together. In the days after, they set out for their Honeymoon throughout Europe, visiting a number of other countries before returning to the USA.

Thanks to these elopement photos, they’ll be able to return to Iceland any time they want in their dreams and memories.
