There’s something incredibly special about reconnecting with past wedding couples – especially when we get to document the next chapter of their story. We first met Sophia and Andy back in 2020 (well, technically even earlier since they had us booked for their wedding in 2019 – crazy how time flies!), when we photographed their wedding at the Fairmount Park Water Works in Philadelphia. Seeing them again a few years later – now with their sweet toddler son – was such a joy.
For their Barnes Arboretum family photos, we spent the afternoon exploring the serene gardens at St. Joseph’s University in Merion, Pennsylvania, just outside Philly. The Arboretum’s winding paths, vibrant greenery, and soft fall light created the perfect backdrop for natural, candid moments.
Sophia and Andy wanted their session to feel relaxed and genuine – less about posing, more about capturing their little one’s curiosity and energy. From playful moments under the trees to quiet snuggles between the three of them (and a whole lot of laughter), the session felt like a reflection of their love as a family.
The Barnes Arboretum has such a timeless beauty – it’s a hidden gem for family photos in the Philadelphia area. Whether it’s your first session together or a follow-up to your wedding portraits, the Arboretum’s mix of nature and calm atmosphere makes it an ideal spot for heartfelt images.
We loved getting to spend the afternoon with Sophia, Andy, and their son, and seeing how their story has grown since their wedding day.
If you’re looking for inspiration for your own family photo session at Barnes Arboretum, we’d love to help you plan something personal and meaningful in this beautiful location.
